After a pretty restless night last night, I decided that today I was going to treat myself. Actually, after you find out what I’ve been doing to treat myself, you might argue that I’m actually hurting myself rather than treating. First of all, I made a batch of spinach and artichoke dip using my good friend Megan’s recipe. If you knew even HALF of the ingredients that go into that, you’d be putting me on an all-vegetable and water diet for the rest of my life. The name “spinach and artichoke” dip is extremely misleading. I hear that, and I think, ‘Wow, that actually sounds pretty healthy.’ They should really call it “cheese, Alfredo sauce, and more cheese dip”. I can just hear my arteries clogging as I type this. The good news, however, is that the dip turned out fabulous, and even Dad gave his stamp of approval. Thanks, Megan, for such a sinfully delicious recipe. I’m pretty sure that Paula Deen would be so proud.
Now, if I were to stop at the dip, you might be able to take pity on my bad habit of healing my inner pain with delicious food. But, readers, that’s not the case, and if any of you expected otherwise of me, you don’t know me at all. While browsing online last night, I came across this little piece of heaven – Nutella Hot Chocolate. These are the moments when I just KNOW that someone in the world is looking out for me. There may have even been tears when I saw this. Naturally, the perfect thing to accompany spinach and artichoke dip would be Nutella hot chocolate (what, were you thinking of something else?). And to make matters worse, I did, in fact, drench the stuff in whipped cream after it was done…homemade whipped cream, mind you. I’m still sipping away on it right now, and it’s seriously one of the most incredible things I’ve ever experienced – out of body, for real.
I’ll be honest, though. At this point in time, my belly is about to turn against me. I need to clean up this mess and take a couple of laps around the block. But it’s raining outside, so maybe I’ll just take a couple of laps around the kitchen before spooning out another bowl of spinach and artichoke dip. I’m so naughty, I know.
