A Little Taste of Home

3.02.2012

“The storm is comin’ in.”

Well, here we are in Ohio! Our twelve-hour car ride was pretty chill with only a few stops. Our time has been spent having family time at both of our parents’ houses, and it’s been lovely. This afternoon, I’m taking my little cousins to a steak dinner, because I’m the best cousin in the world. :] Yesterday, Dad and I chowed down on some Chipotle, and I can’t even TELL you how happy that made me. Savannah doesn’t have two of my favorite restaurants, being B-Dubs and Chipotle, and I was in heaven, I tell you!

I can already tell that this leave is going to fly by, but I’m trying not to think about that right now. I just want to enjoy our time here, but I have a nasty habit of worrying about what’s coming next, rather than enjoying what’s happening right now. I may have mentioned that here once or twice before, but it never ceases to be true. With that being said, MOVING ON!

I have discovered, between moving to Columbus, then moving to Savannah, that regardless how much distance I put between myself and this town, I will always feel more at home here than anywhere else. I hate it 90% of the time; then I come back, and I drive by houses where I would hang out with friends in high school, parks where I used to take the kids to play, or the routes that I drove on summer nights, with the windows rolled down, and suddenly, there’s nowhere else in that world that I’d rather be. I can try to hate it, with everything that I have, but it’s home, and it’s everything I’ve ever known. It really is true that you don’t realize how much you miss home until you’ve been somewhere else for awhile. I’m glad to be here with my family, and I get to see some of my good friends on Saturday, so I’m a happy girl. Peace and love to you all! Enjoy your weekends!
