Since I’m home, it’s time to start sprucing up my old bedroom again. Every time I come back, it gets a mini makeover. It’s important to me to take pride in this space of mine, so little by little, I’m giving it some TLC. I’m not going to lie, I’m still trying to make the switch from the bedroom of a teenaged girl, but the bright colors, endless stacks of magazines, and Hello Kitty alarm clock bring me joy, so I say why not? I mean, let’s face it – I drink tea out of a mug with a mustache on it. It’s not as if I’m the poster child for seriousness, so this room still fits me pretty well. With that being said, some things had to go. The floor-to-ceiling magazine collage and the “It’s five o’clock somewhere” sign, for instance. I always feel a bit surreal, coming from my “adult” space back to my “kid” space, but it sure beats spending this deployment alone in Savannah. Not to mention that I get to see my mom and dad every day, and they’re number one on my most-missed list when I’m away.

In attempt to make this room feel a bit cozier, I bought a new lamp, magazine holders, a fancy new lantern, because it makes me smile, and Mom and I cleaned out a lot of the clutter. My clothes are FINALLY unpacked and organized, which was a feat in and of itself. I’d like to fill the walls with some items that fit my ever-changing 23-year-old taste, which obviously means that some trips to local thrift stores are in order ASAP. I’m just lucky my parents haven’t remodeled this old room into their new theater or weight room. Sorry, Mom and Dad! Capone and I appreciate you letting us crash your house, though..again.

Also, can I just mention how awesome it is to cuddle with my kitty again? Ooh, Missy Cat. How I love thee.

I’ll update soon!

xoxoxo
