Stay Gorgeous

2.02.2013

I will be the first to tell you that I’m quite the high maintenance lady. A dear friend of mine told me that I get credit for being honest about that fact. At least I’m not one of those people who try to play it off like I’m so easy going. Take away my shower, first thing in the morning, and see how easy going I am. To keep up with my obsession with good hygiene and self-pampering, I have a few products that I turn to, time and time again. The following are some of my faves that I thought would be fun to share with you.

This Burt’s Bees Radiance Eye Cream is something that I’ve just started using. I have a trial-sized version, that I received for Christmas, along with a bunch of other Burt’s Bees items, but I’m loving it. It has a pleasant smell, and though it’s supposed to help with wrinkles, I use it mainly because my skin is super sensitive, and even my eye lids get dry. This especially happens in the winter, and the above cream makes it all better. Twice a day, every day. Burt’s Bees is near and dear to my heart. I also swear by their lip balms.

Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover is my favorite. I’m a big fan of eyeliner and mascara, and without some kind of remover, you might as well forget it. Removing eye makeup, without some extra help, is the biggest pain, as most of you ladies probably already know, so this is my go-to.

I’ve recently discovered the beauty of toners. I like Almay Smart Shade, because it’s sort of a two for one deal. The lavender color helps hide blemishes, which is a plus for me and my stubborn acne, and the green makes any redness more subtle. I also like it, because it gives my skin a clean feeling before I apply my foundation. That last part might be completely psychological, though. Who knows.

I have used Lash Stiletto since it first came out. I had a fancy tube of Dior mascara, at one point, which is amazing, but I prefer this one. I’m forever trying to achieve the Twiggy look from the sixties, and while I might need false lashes to get the full effect, this allows me to pile on the layers, without getting a ton of clumps. Someday, I might be able to afford to keep a full stock of Dior makeup, but Stiletto is perfect for the budget-conscious girl.

I love, love, LOVE Aveeno. I first started using their unscented lotion when I got my first tattoo. Any tattoo enthusiast knows that scented lotions are bad news for fresh tattoos, so I grabbed a bottle of Aveeno off the shelf. I’ve used it ever since, whether it be for tattoos or dry skin in the winter. It moisturizes for an extended period of time, and it doesn’t feel thin and slimy the way other lotions feel. I don’t know how much sense that makes, but it just has a nice, thick texture.

So, there’s a little peek into my daily routine. This post reminds me of Truvy from Steel Magnolias, when she says: “There’s no such thing as natural beauty.” Except, there totally is, because I think you readers are beautiful, all the time!

Happy Saturday!
